Welcome to Our Family-Centered Approach
Every family has unique strengths, experiences, and insights that matter. The Family Voice & Early Prevention initiative recognizes that you are the expert on your own family. Your voice, feedback, and perspectives are essential to creating supportive services that truly meet families’ needs in our community.
Our Core Belief: Families thrive when they feel heard, valued, and supported before challenges become overwhelming.
What is the Protective Factors Survey?
The Protective Factors Survey is a family-friendly tool designed to understand what’s working well in your family and what additional support might be helpful. This survey focuses on five key areas that research shows help families stay strong and resilient:
The Five Protective Factors
- Family Functioning & Resilience
– How your family handles everyday challenges and bounces back from difficulties - Social Connections
– The relationships and support networks that matter to your family - Knowledge of Parenting & Child Development
– Understanding of child growth, development, and effective parenting approaches - Concrete Support in Times of Need
– Access to practical resources like housing, food, childcare, and transportation - Social & Emotional Support of Children
– Your child’s ability to form relationships, manage emotions, and develop social skills
Why These Factors Matter
Research consistently shows that when families have strong protective factors, children are more likely to:
• Develop healthy relationships
• Succeed in school and life
• Build resilience to overcome challenges
• Grow into confident, capable adults
